Innovation Club Report – 2014
The inaugural function of “INNOVATION CLUB” – INNOVA-2014 was held on 29th march 2014.
Innovation club is a platform where students can showcase their innovative ideas and seek all the support needed from the club.
We were honored by the presence of our Rector Dr. M.Murugesh Mudaliar, respected Principal Dr. M.S.Bhagyashekar, Vice Principal Prof. M.Prabhakar, Dr.Usha Head of Innovation Club and our very own beloved teachers.
The event “INNOVA” started by the anchoring of Prof. Neelu L (CSE) by 10 am as scheduled, beginning with the beautiful invocation by Shravya R bairy (cse) and Sumana Somashekar (cse) followed by lighting the lamp.
The session continued with an innovative talk by Dr. M Arunachalam which gave students an insight about National Innovation Council. The talk contained an introduction about national innovation council that it is a govt body whose main objective is to improve the innovation capability in the country. The benefits for students for having such a club is that National Innovation Council (NInC) will provide funding by the India inclusive innovation fund it is an SEBI registered body.Talk even included how NInC operates, NInC operates in a form of clusters by forming local innovation clusters in communities like industry, academia, R&D, technology, finance, skilled manpower, market, etc. it encourages the creation of clusters. Already seven clusters exists in India called pilot clusters inclusive of auto components, Ayurveda, bamboo, brassware, food processing, life sciences and many more. The insights conveyed students the importance of forming a cluster in college as NInC proposes National innovation Scholarships and it promotes Multidisciplinary learning.NInC have already formed a state and sector innovation councils in 27 states and mentor of Karnataka being Mr. R.Gopal Krishnan.Talk ended with the conclusion that the Govt body is on its mission to bring the culture of innovation in the country to a new level and encourage and support students in all dimensions possible and make India an INNOVATIVE NATION.
The event continued with an interactive session with the student participants headed by Prof. Neelu L & Prof. Maya Salimath where 20 teams took part in an innovation challenge, the task given to students was to identify the current challenges that India is facing and come up with an innovative solution that had not been implemented yet. Students participated with enthusiasm and came up with brilliant ideas to make a better nation.Students were given 7 min to discuss and come up with an idea and 3 min to present their ideas. The best 3 teams were chosen as winners of the challenge.
The event ended with a vote of thanks from Prof .Nandish U G from ISE.
