NanoStructured,Smart and Electronic Materials

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Rajarajeswari College of Engineering (RRCE), organized one day International Workshop on “Nanostructured, Smart and Electronic Materials (IWNSE-2016)” on Friday 8th January-2016.

More than 100 participants attended the workshop including academicians, research scholars, and faculty staffs, scientists, practicing engineers from industries, R&D personnel and PG/UG students from various colleges. The main focus of the workshop was to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of research on the functional and mechanical properties of all materials which are of interest to material scientists and engineers from many different areas including R&D. The topics included, technical talks on the fabrication and characterization techniques of nano-structured materials, smart materials, micro and nano fabrication techniques of electronic materials and their key potential technologically significant applications.

International workshop was presided by the chief guest Dr. Ajay Kumar Kambham, Ph.D (imec-Belgium), along with Dr. T. R. Gopalakrishnan Nair, Rector (RRGI), Dr. R. Balakrishna, Principal (RRCE), Dr. R. Shankara Reddy, HOD (Dept. of Mech. Engg., RRCE) and Dr. S. Anand Kumar, Professor (Dept. of Mech. Engg., RRCE) and Organizing Secretary of IWNSE-2016. Dr. Ajay Kumar Kambham is a Senior Engineer at Global Foundries, Malta, USA, who is an expert in semiconductor materials and its characterization as well as one among the resource person of the workshop. The key note address was delivered by Dr. T. R. Gopalakrishnan Nair, Rector, Rajarajeswari Group of Institutions, who is a former ISRO Senior Scientist (Retd,), who had worked on various projects which is of national importance. Key note lecture was delivered on the topic titled “Changing Paradigms of Semiconductor Technology & Computing Challenges”.

The brainstorming technical sessions were the key highlights of this international workshop. The workshop was overwhelmed with enthusiastic participation from different domain of technical fraternity. The technical talks were delivered by the other resource persons, Dr. T. N. Raju, Ph.D (IIT-Madras), Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bangalore and Dr. S. Anand Kumar, Ph.D (IIT-Madras), Department of Mechanical Engineering, Rajarajeswari College of engineering, Bangalore were enriching and embellishing factors of the workshop.
